Where in Bali Can You Have a Relaxing Vacation?

5:04 AM Unknown

Name one place in Indonesia without thinking. Most people, especially travel junkies, will say Bali. However, there will always be some people who ask, “Where in Bali?”

For your information, several towns comprise the small island province of Bali in the southern island chain of the Indonesian archipelago. The provincial capital is the city of Denpasar on the southern part of the island. For years, the word “Bali” has been a tourism icon, often referring to Bali as a whole.

Bali’s rise to fame as a tourist hotspot is more or less a Cinderella story. Before the government transformed the island into a must-go place for local and foreign tourists, Bali’s economy hinged heavily on agriculture. Much activity was concentrated on the southern part of the island; Kuta, a fishing village half an hour from Denpasar, was the gateway to the island.

The airport provided the poor village with tourists to rapidly grow into a town. By 1980, tourist arrivals have increased tenfold since the tourism plan kicked off more than a decade ago. The energy crisis of the 1970s resulted in low demand for oil, which was the country's major export. Indonesia was forced to look to Bali for other income sources.

Today, Bali enjoys an unprecedented economic growth, thanks to a successful tourism plan. It no longer matters where you are in Bali. Every nook and cranny of this island province has a lot to offer.
